I teased you yesterday with rumors of a huge announcement in the freshwater fishing world,  Well, the word that I heard turned out to be true!

Manabu Kurita's largemouth bass caught from Lake Biwa in Japan ties George Perry's long-standing world record!

While I am at it, let me put in a plug.  I will be on the Nebraska Outdoors radio show tomorrow morning, 7-8 a.m., 1480 ESPN radio here in Lincoln, .  Listen and give us a call if you like, 402-466-3776.  I plan to talk about some ice-fishing, 2010 Fishing Forecast, new world’s record bass, and we can go from there!

You know, I think I would look pretty good holding a bass just a little bit bigger than that one!  Ha.  Have a great weekend.

Maybe this will change the attitude of the government concerning the status of the LMB!

Well, probably not!

I read somewhere that LMB’s are NOT to be released in Japan!

Hmmmmmm… maybe it was just in a nightmare.

Non-native exotic species can cause problems anywhere. In Japan largemouth bass are a non-native exotic species. It is difficult to predict what ecological impacts might occur when an exotic species is introduced or invades. I imagine that the Japanese are very concerned about the potential impacts from largemouth bass.
