There are a couple of news items I want to get out for folks.

Pawnee Park in Columbus

The first one deals with the fall catchable trout stocking at Pawnee Park in Columbus.  We delayed the stocking of those trout this fall because of some poor water quality in the Pawnee Park ponds.  As of last week the dissolved oxygen levels in the east Pawnee Park pond was still a little lower than we would have liked, while the aerated west pond was good.  So all 1,500 catchable-size rainbows were stocked in the west pond last Thursday.

Lake Ogallala

Secondly, I have a couple of photos of some of the work that is being done at Lake Ogallala this fall.  Anybody who fishes there would be interested in the excavation and dredging they are doing, and if you take a look at these photos you will see why.

Excavation being done in the "narrows" area of Lake Ogallala. The deepening here should improve circulation between the deep, north basin and the rest of the impoundment.

We plan to start stocking trout back into Lake Ogallala early next spring.  Those fish will grow at a phenomenal rate, we have documented trout growth rates there as fast as an inch per month.  We will have some excellent trout fishing at Lake Ogallala next year!
