Some Links of Interest by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

I have several things that I think might be of interest to folks.

First on my list is a link to weekly McConaughy fishing reports.  We have an angler survey ongoing at McConaughy again this year and the clerk doing that work has weekly updates.  Thanks Ross.

McConaughy Information

I do some fly-fishing, but I am not a fly-fishing purist by any means.  In spite of that there is an event coming up in Omaha that I believe will be a hoot!  The Fly Fishing Film Tour will be making a stop in Omaha on June 18.  You can find information and ticket prices HERE.  This event should be a lot of fun and will be sure to rev you up to do some fly-fishing.

Speaking of movies.  This spring there were a number of us here in the office that had the chance to work with some University of Nebraska students on one of their class projects.  They chose to do a documentary on fish & wildlife management and I believe they did a great job.  If you would like to see their film, and I believe you might learn something from it, you can see it HERE .  Click on the “Nebraska Game & Parks Commission” video.  Nice job guys!

Lastly, proper care of fish is critical if those fish are to survive being caught and released.  Fish are made for living in water and when taken out of the water need extra support.  If at all possible they should be held in a horizontal position with extra support.  Here is an excellent poster produced by Texas Parks and Wildlife to remind folks how to do it right.
